What would you do if you won 38 million Euros in a lottery? Acclaimed actress Amanda Redman stars as Alison Braithwaite, who faces this dilemma while her entire family lurches from one crisis to the next. Written by Sally Wainwright, this unusual and popular comedy drama series was an ITV ratings winner when it was first broadcast in 2000. The series also stars Peter Davison as Alison's husband David, Lynda Bellingham and Sylvia Syms in this emotional roller-coaster of a series which won the TV Quick Award 2000 for Best New Drama and well as being nominated for a further eight accolades.

So far there have been two simple releases from Network, each containing a series of the show.

She decides she wants to do something worthwhile with the money. She asks her accountant, Pauline, and her old friend, Marion, to help her set up a charity. Alison says she will tell her family about the win - she's just not ready to tell them yet...20.1.00
2Alison Braithwaite's charity is up and running and they are overwhelmed by begging letters. Pauline persuades Alison that the company needs to expand to be efficient. 3David has agreed to spend the night with Elaine, but now he's in a frenzy of anxiety. Sarah gives her drama teacher a poem revealing her feelings about him. Then she discovers he has a girlfriend. Meanwhile, Virginia is very depressed following Megan's rejection and gets mugged at a cashpoint. Alison is summoned to casualty and an emotional Virginia confides everything. Alison has a secret to tell Virginia in return.3.2.00
4A buoyant Virginia is now working for Alison's company and driving around in a Lotus Elise. David tells Alison he's sick of his job. She suggests he might be able to get a job at the Jane Crowther Trust. David's thrilled and decides he must end his affair with Elaine. David suggests to Sarah that Phil's not the right boyfriend for her. Sarah tries to finish with Phil, who says David has no right to preach. He tells her David is having an affair.10.2.00

McGuire, a local journalist, gets into the building of the Jane Crowther Trust and confronts Alison, Pauline, Marion and Virginia. 6Sarah decides she wants to have her pregnancy terminated. Denise finds out about Sarah's pregnancy - she storms round to Alison's office and leaves a message for her that David is having an affair. Alison returns to the office with the news that Sarah's going to have the baby. McGuire phones some London journalists: he's got the story about the lottery winner. Their secrets are out - Alison's the lottery winner and David's had an affair. Can their marriage possibly survive?24.2.00
